Symptoms

  • microscopic parasite attaching to skin and gills of fish

  • fish will scratch against objects and gravel

  • fish appear listless

  • fins folded in

  • rapid breathing in fish may be accompanied by gasping at the surface of the water

  • not always signs on the fish except the actions of the fish

  • very contagious

Organic treatment of fish

  • remove infected fish to a hospital tank with a double dose of Ark BioRite Replenisher (2 tablespoons per 10 gallons)

  • raise tank temperature 10 degrees but not over 90 degrees

  • treat with Organic Control as directed

  • extend treatment if needed

  • if symptoms continue follow with medicinal treatment

Medicinal treatment of fish

  • remove infected fish to a hospital tank with a double dose of Ark BioRite Replenisher (2 tablespoons per 10 gallons)

  • raise tank temperature 10 degrees but not over 90 degrees

  • if they will eat feed Full Spectrum medicated food as directed

  • treat water as directed with Ick Off

  • if symptoms continue do 50% water change in a hospital tank and repeat treatment

Original tank treatment

(if infected fish were moved to hospital tank)

  • do 60% water change another day for a total of three water changes

  • feed remaining fish Full Spectrum medicated food per instructions for 1 feeding cycle
